I missed the bus!

So…….you know you haven’t been activley in this game for a while when you completely miscalculate the date of your last cycle………..By a week!

So imagine my surprise when AF arrived on Saturday morning. UUURRRGGGGHH!

So on the phone I got and realised that my fertility clinic is closed for the weekend and only tends to emergencies. And the tests and scan I needed to do both fell on Sunday.  I could not for the life of me remember if simple ‘getting back on the horse’ fertility scans fall into the emergency category. AAArggghh.

Coupled with this I had;

A sick husband, broken car and no desire to do fasting blood tests on a Sunday morning.

So ladies, I am leaving these tests for next cycle. At least I know I am on CD5 today and will be ready for next month.

  1. Sorry to hear about the mix-up. A similar thing happened to me after my long break, during the “nature take its course” phase. During the break I gave up charting, and had no interest in resuming when the break was over. One cycle, I miscalculated CD1 by exactly a week. Then fake-CD28 passed, 29, 30… Excited, I thought I must be pregnant and POAS. BFN. Fake CD32, test again, BFN again. Fake CD34, same thing. I started to freak out that something was wrong if I was that far past my expected period but kept getting negative tests. When I went to see my acupuncturist, I told her the situation. She said, “Didn’t your period start on (one week later than fake CD1)?” Oh!!! I felt like such an idiot.

In the couple of years since then, even though I’ve only charted a couple of cycles, I do try to record CD1. Nowadays, having done two injectibles/IUI cycles and IVF #1 in the past few months, there’s no way I could forget where I am at any point in the cycle.

Hope hubby and car feel better soon, and good luck with the ‘back on the horse’ cycle next month!

  2. Good for you Sian. Not to be funny, but please tell me the secret to forgetting cycle days. I’m not being sarcastic at all, I just want to be able to forget about where I am in my cycle as well, but don’t seem to be able to.

  3. Just returning your comment-
Well done. Hopefully next time the days will fall more kindly for you!

  4. Baaaahhh Haa! Funny…gimme so of those pills too!

  5. Hey Sian, are you not with VL?? They have done scans for me on Sunday?? ::confused::

  6. Hey Sian, ok I promised no flak (this month)…… sorry you missed the boat.

VL is open on Sats & Sundays for scans and bloods you just have to be there at 7:00. Dr V said rather proudly at my first visit the only day they’re not open is Christmas Day.

Shame is hubby feeling better?? And your Car isn’t it fixed yet? Just shout if you need anything chauffered, collected or delivered…..

  7. Isn’t it odd how sometimes she just sneaks up on us?

Thanks for your comment on my blog.

  8. I tend to agree w/ the posters above that mixing up your cycle days is a sign of sanity. Some of us know to the hour when we ovulate and trust me its a bad thing!

  9. Hi, over from ICLW,

Take the break that you need. There is always next cycle.

  10. Aghh!!! Well, that sucks….but you seem to have a good attitude about it. Just get back on the horse next month :)

  11. Sorry you miscalculated this month and have to cycle next instead.

I wish you the best of luck, though. Visiting from ICLW.

  12. Wishing you the best in your TTC journey.

  13. I use an application on my iGoogle page to tell me when my period’s due. Otherwise I wouldn’t have a clue. It’s kind of a nice change.

  14. I think it’s kinda good you were able to stop counting days for a while. Isn’t it typical of AF though, to DELIBERATELY turn up just on the wrong day, selfish, selfish, attention-seeking-red-shoed drama queen she is!

Good luck with the tests. BTW, I also very much enjoyed your ‘key moments’ entry…really brought back some memories.

    ICLW xx

  15. That sucks that you missed your chance this cycle. But hopefully it will all work out next month.

  16. I’m so sorry you missed the boat. AF’s arrival for me is always a constant disappointment.

I hope u’re feeling better today.

  17. It can be so hard, and annoying to always track your CD, it happens to the best of us! Good luck next cycle with your tests!
